Cat 345 hydraulic excavator’s design has been configured for local, demanding construction environments.

Oasis Trading, the authorised Cat dealer in Oman, last month unveiled the new Cat 345 hydraulic excavator in the sultanate.

Held at the Oasis Trading facility in Muscat, the event drew a crowd of more than 220 industry leaders, including significant representation from key governmental establishments.

At the event, the company showcased the Cat 345’s robust design configured for local, demanding construction environments.

The introduction of new hydraulic excavator highlighted the event’s theme: “Perfected to Dig, Move, Save.”

“This theme encapsulates the machine’s core proposition, highlighting its supreme hydraulic power for precise digging, its agility and speed for moving massive volumes of material, and its next-generation fuel efficiency and low operating costs, which are engineered to deliver significant savings for every project undertaken in the region,” said Samer Ismail, Director, Construction Industries, Oasis Trading.

Attendees at the launch event were also treated to a large-scale exhibition featuring approximately 15 different machines from the Cat and SEM fleets,

The successful turnout and enthusiastic response confirm the industry’s requirement for equipment that delivers efficiency and power configured to local conditions, he added.

“The energy at the launch was phenomenal, The Cat 345 represents a new benchmark for performance and reliability here in the sultanate. We are confident that this model will quickly become the backbone of major infrastructure and development projects across Oman,” he remarked.

Attendees at the launch event were also treated to a large-scale exhibition featuring approximately 15 different machines from the Cat and SEM fleets, alongside a comprehensive display of four or five specialised work tools, and demonstrations focused on advanced machine telematics. The presence of personnel from Caterpillar underscored the global importance of this new regional model.

Commenting on the event, one of the attendees said: “The dramatic reveal was very exciting – you felt the power of the machine even before it was fully visible. It was a well-organised event that gave us all the information we needed, along with a great opportunity to network with industry leaders.”

CAT G3520 FAST RESPONSE GENSET

Meanwhile, Caterpillar last month announced the introduction of a 3.1 MW power node for the Cat G3520 Fast Response natural-gas generator set, launching the company’s largest single-unit output with this capability for supporting standby and demand response in grid connected and microgrid projects.

Available now worldwide, the 3.1 MW Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set is engineered for applications where the need for uninterrupted power is essential.  It significantly reduces downtime through diesel-like performance and enables customers to participate in utility-sponsored programmes, creating new avenues for operational cost recovery and revenue generation.

According to Caterpillar, the Cat G3520 Fast Response provides rapid and reliable power delivery through its unique capabilities. It can start and accept load from a cold start in under 10 seconds, aligning with NFPA 110 requirements. This standard supports the provision of dependable back-up power for healthcare institutions, data centres, emergency service centres, and high-occupancy buildings where operational continuity is essential.

The generator set is available in both 50 and 60 Hz applications, offering flexibility for global deployment.

The Cat G3520 Fast Response generator set offers customers opportunities for additional revenue via participation in demand and emergency response programmes that incentivise users to reduce or shift electricity consumption during peak demand periods. These programmes can be further optimised through integration with a Distributed Energy Resource Management System (DERMS) such as Cat AMP, which automatically enrolls customers and confirms their programme participation in real time, maximising the economic benefits.

“Our fast-response natural-gas generator sets deliver unique performance comparable to the start-up and load acceptance of diesel-fueled power solutions,” said Melissa Busen, Senior Vice-President for Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division. “This new 3.1 MW power node supports our customers’ energy resilience in critical power applications.”
