KOC has awarded the contract for installation, surveillance and maintenance of ESP systems.

KUWAIT OIL COMPANY (KOC) has announced that it has awarded contracts worth KD679.4 million ($2.2 billion) for the supply, installation, surveillance and maintenance of electrical submersible pumping (ESP) systems.

The project was awarded to the following companies: The first contract worth KD233.99 million was clinched by Alkhorayef Petroleum Company, while the second contract was awarded to Halliburton worth KD201 million.

Schlumberger too snapped up a contract worth KD169.96 million from KOC along with Chinese group Tianjin Rongheng Group which sealed a KD74.95 million contract.

According to KOC, the bidders’ proposals for all seven packages were received in July.

In another development, KOC has announced that top Indian engineering and construction conglomerate Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has emerged as the lowest bidder for its key Jurassic Light Oil (JLO) export facilities and upgrading of existing export network project followed by leading British international energy services company Petrofac. The L&T bid at a price of KD303.5 million, while Petrofac’s pricing stood at KD310.5 million, said KOC in a statement.

The scope of work includes the construction of new storage facilities for Kuwaiti export crude and Jurassic light crude, along with the upgrade of existing crude export infrastructure, it added.
