Geberit employs eco-design principles when developing new products, considering the entire product lifecycle.

Geberit Group, a European market leader in the field of sanitary products, has been awarded the EcoVadis Gold Medal for 2025, its second such achievement for its sustainability performance.

This prestigious award places Geberit in the top five per cent of more than 150,000 companies assessed globally by EcoVadis across all industries, underscoring its commitment to comprehensive and continuous improvement in sustainable business practices.

This prestigious award serves as a valuable indicator for customers and suppliers that Geberit has a comprehensive, systematic, and long-term sustainability management system in place, says a spokesman for the Geberit Group.

Since its founding in 2007, EcoVadis has become one of the world’s largest providers of sustainability ratings for companies, with its global network now comprising over 150,000 assessed businesses. It conducts risk and performance assessments across 250 industries and more than 185 countries using 21 criteria divided into four thematic areas: Environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

“Comprehensive and verifiable sustainability strategies are becoming increasingly relevant for companies,” says the spokesman. “More and more wholesale customers require their suppliers to provide transparency regarding their sustainability performance. Providers such as EcoVadis significantly contribute to the transparency of corporate sustainability performance, offering customers a reliable basis for comparison.”

According to him, sustainability has been an integral part of Geberit’s long-term corporate strategy since 1990. In line with this, all sanitary products and services are developed with due consideration to economic, ecological and social aspects. The company – from the provision of raw materials to disposal – to minimise environmental impact without compromising quality, functionality or durability.

The globally operating Geberit Group, which celebrated its 150th anniversary last year, operates with a strong local presence in most European countries, providing unique added value when it comes to sanitary technology and bathroom ceramics.  The company’s product range encompasses sanitary technology, piping systems, ceramic appliances and bathroom furnishings, thus enabling it to offer comprehensive solutions for private and public sanitary facilities from a single source. The products are suitable for both new buildings and renovations.

Headquartered in Rapperswil-Jona, Switzerland, the group has around 11,000 employees in more than 50 countries and generated net sales of CHF3.1 billion ($3.4 billion) in 2024.

“Thanks to its ongoing high profitability and healthy financial foundation, the company can continuously invest in long-term growth and productivity improvements while creating value for shareholders. Geberit shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange and part of the SMI (Swiss Market Index),” the spokesman adds.

Geberit’s production network encompasses 26 production facilities, four of which are located overseas, all meeting exceptional quality standards. For the development of new products, technologies and manufacturing processes, the group has a team of around 450 scientists, engineers and specialists at its headquarters and in local units, as well as extensive technical infrastructure and labs. A long-standing average of around 35 patent applications a year demonstrates the company’s high innovative strength.

Geberit supports market partners from the construction industry and commerce with various training opportunities that use digital possibilities but also incorporate practice-oriented courses at one of the group’s 30 training centres. In addition, Geberit’s field service team provides professional support to wholesalers, showrooms, plumbing companies, planning offices, and architects, offering tailored advice for individual projects.
