National Housing Company (NHC) has announced that it has signed a co-operation agreement with China’s Citic Construction to establish an industrial city and logistics zones for building materials, comprising 12 factories in Saudi Arabia.

According to NHC, the deal with Citic Construction is part of its efforts to secure supply chains for its residential projects, ensuring their timely implementation to high quality standards.

The 12 factories are expected to be set up by major specialised manufacturers of building materials in China.

In addition, several local factories will join in to enhance operations and attract the best service providers.

The agreement was signed during the official visit of Minister of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing Majed bin Abdullah Al-Hogail to China, in the presence of the CEO of NHC Mohammed bin Saleh Albuty.

According to NHC, the agreement will promote a transformation in the construction sector through the setting of these industrial cities and logistics zones, it stated.

The Saudi group said the collaboration will help improve the quality of products used in the construction of housing projects, while extending the strategic agreement between Saudi Arabia and China signed in December 2022.
