Procore unveils expansion plan

Procore Technologies, a leading provider of construction management software, has partnered with Abu Dhabi-based sovereign investor Mubadala Investment Company to enter the Middle East and North Africa market.

The partnership with Mubadala, already an existing Procore shareholder, will advance the opportunity for the US firm to connect information and teams,  providing a single unified platform for construction, encompassing project management, quality and safety, financials, resource management and analytics, plus the ability to integrate with hundreds of applications through Procore’s App Marketplace.

$90m chemical terminal on cards

Petrochem Middle East, one of the largest chemical distributors in the Middle East and Africa, has signed a 30-year lease agreement with DP World, UAE Region, the leading smart trade enabler, to set up its second distribution and storage terminal in Jebel Ali at an investment ranging between $80 million and $90 million.

With this project, Petrochem proposes to build 24 to 30 bulk chemicals storage tanks of different sizes and some stainless-steel tanks with an overall capacity of 40,000 cu m. It also includes a day tank farm, tanker and truck loading facility, nitrogen generation plant and automatic drum filling machines.

According to Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO & Managing Director, DP World – UAE Region and Jafza, the facility is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2023 and will provide chemical raw materials to industries in the UAE.

RTA tenders three truck rest stops

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has released a tender for construction of three integrated truck rest stops in the emirate under an innovative model of public-private partnership (PPP).

Explaining the project features, Mattar Mohammed Al Tayer, Director-General, Chairman of the RTA board of executive directors, said: “The project will be undertaken in partnership with the private sector based on build-operate-transfer (BOT) model in a contract that runs 25 to 30 years.”

The first site, which is near Jebel Ali Industrial Area 3 in the direction of Abu Dhabi covers an area of 100,000 sq m and accommodates 170 to 200 trucks. The second site adjacent to Emirates Road and Sharjah entry point, spans 70,000 sq m and will accommodate 130-150 trucks. The third site is planned at Dubai Industrial City over an area of 50,000 sq m with a capacity to take 90-100 trucks.
