Authorities have already distributed hundreds of homes to beneficiaries under the 5,000-unit East Hidd development.

Bids have been received from leading contractors for the construction of 520 residential apartments in East Hidd, Bahrain.

The project is being developed by the Ministry of Housing and is funded through a grant from Kuwait through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAAE).  Bids for the two packages, which involve the construction of the homes and associated works, were required to be submitted by May 9.

A total of 10 contractors are in the race for Package A of the project, while Package B has attracted eight big names including Alghanah Group, Almoayyed Contracting, Mohammed A Al Kharafi & Sons, Ahmed Mansoor AlAali and Mohammed Jalal Contracting, according to Bahrain Tender Board.

Under the first package, a total of 256 social housing units will be built along with other associated external works, while Package B will boasts a total of 264 units, it stated.

The other big names vying for the project are Dar Al Khaleej Trading & Contracting; Dadabhai Construction; Alghanim General Trading and Contracting; First Kuwaiti Trading & Contracting; and Bokhowa Contracting and Trading Group, it added.
