Leading players in the construction and contracting sector are in the race for a key contract to build a seafood cannery plant at the new Duqm Fisheries Complex in Oman.

International Sea Food Company, a subsidiary of government entity Oman Food Investment Holding Company, is overseeing the establishment of the fish processing plant with an investment of around $110 million, reported Oman Observer.

The new plant will come up on a plot of land that is part of a 7 sq km fisheries and food processing zone envisioned alongside the fisheries harbour at Duqm.

The engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) packages covering the construction of the seafood cannery plant are likely to to be issued to prequalified contractors by the end of the first quarter of 2021, stated the report.
