Gres Porcelanato slabs ... suitable for all facade systems.

RAK Ceramics, the world’s largest ceramic manufacturing company, claims yet another ‘first’ with the launch a new line of natural stone slabs called Versatile.

As the name suggests, the product has a wide range of applications from steps and risers to vanity tops and building facades.

“The flexibility and affordability of the Versatile series offers unparalleled creative potential,” says a spokesman for RAK Ceramics, which has its headquarters in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Versatile ... used for vanity tops.

Versatile slabs are manufactured using the finest composition of raw materials combined with advanced and sophisticated technology, which makes them sturdy and long lasting. These specialty slabs are stronger than natural stone and are resistant to scratch, stain, frost or chemicals, says the spokesman, adding that they are easy to clean and incur no maintenance costs.

“Another first in the market, the Versatile range reaffirms RAK Ceramics as a trendsetter. The applications of the tile, which can be used for both commercial and residential purposes, are as varied as the range. The slabs can be applied anywhere, indoor or outdoor, and their size and thickness options leave an unlimited scope for creativity,” says the spokesman.

Among the many applications for the new slabs are facades.

The extremely strong, weather-resistant Versatile specialty Gres Porcelanato slabs are suitable for all usual technical facade systems, both ventilated and non-ventilated, says the spokesman. “By varying the size and repetition of the tile pattern, spectacular and attractive facades can be created.”

“These slabs make an ideal first impression for any residential or commercial high-rise tower, thanks to their quality and durability as well as their fascinating natural stone designs,” he adds.

Pre-fabricated Gres Porcelanato steps and risers ... slip resistant.

Slabs in 13 mm and 20 mm thicknesses are available for custom-made facades.

“Versatile is stronger and more durable when used instead of natural stone and a range of other materials – and provides an eco-friendly option. Beyond that, Versatile saves time and energy as it is a ‘ready to install’ product. And ultimately, a variety of colours means there’s one for every project,” he points out.

Steps & risers

Versatile slabs also come in the form of pre-fabricated Gres Porcelanato steps and risers. “Available in coordinated sets, these pre-cut, pre-sized, pre-polished steps are ready to install and bring timeless beauty to any setting with unmatched durability,” the spokesman says. “The pre-drilled optimised laser strips make them non-slip at all times, even when wet. When installed, the steps do not wear, burn, stain or fade – making repair costs a thing of the past.”

The 13-mm-thick Versatile steps and risers are available in 13 colours (29.5 cm by 119.5 cm and 14.5 cm by 119.5 cm, respectively).

Vanity tops

Another application where Versatile specialty slabs are suitable is vanity tops.

“Computerised custom-made water jet vanity and kitchen tops add a distinctive style to any bathroom or kitchen, and this is where Versatile specialty slabs, which can be drilled and cut in any size and shape, provide a clear advantage,” says the spokesman. “The high breaking strength and resistance to chemicals and stains give them an edge over ordinary natural slabs.”

Made out of 20-mm-thick Versatile porcelain slab of 120 cm by 180 cm, vanity and kitchen tops offer great durability with no maintenance. In addition, these slabs are available in more than 13 colours with a bull nose finish polished and bevelled front.

“We have done it again with this latest line – offering solutions that breathe new life into design projects. With the company as versatile as its latest range, it’s no wonder it is number one,” the spokesman adds.

Established in 1991, RAK Ceramics is a $1-billion global conglomerate that supplies to over 160 countries and has been officially recognised as the world’s largest ceramics manufacturer with a global annual production output of 117 million sq m of ceramic and porcelain tiles, 4.5 million pieces of bathware and 20 million pieces of tableware.
