WESTFALL Manufacturing Company of the US is offering a fixed plate static injection mixer for water treatment, desalination and water purification systems that is considerably smaller, lighter, and less expensive to purchase, ship, and install than a traditional mixer.
The Westfall Model 2800 Static Mixer is a 316SS wafer-style fixed plate with integral gaskets and a pre-drilled flange that is designed to fit into the mating flange bolt circle of any piping system to provide rapid mixing. It is a full pipe motionless static mixer in which fluids are injected and rapidly mixed by a combination of alternate vortex shedding and intense shear zone turbulence.
Achieving better than 98 per cent injected fluid dispersion only 10 diameters downstream, the product has a short laying length that is a fraction of traditional mixers, which makes it considerably less costly to produce, ship, install, and maintain, says a spokesman for the company.
Available up to 305 cm diameter, the 5.08-cm-wide 2800 Static Mixer can replace a traditional mixer, which is usually 7.62-m long and expensive to transport, he says. Featuring three orifice ratios – 0.7, 0.8 and 0.9 beta opening – these feed line mixers can accommodate one or more fluids which are rapidly mixed by a combination of alternated vortex shedding and intense shear zone turbulence.
Westfall specialises in custom-engineering components used in pipeline systems for water treatment, wastewater treatment, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage industries. Its products can be fabricated in a variety of materials and specifications to meet client needs.
