A RECENT published report by a research-based global management consulting firm has identified that split and window air-conditioners in Saudi Arabia will account for the largest demand share of the country’s air-conditioners market.

It also says the Central Province will dominate the country’s air-conditioning market through 2018.

According to TechSci Research’s reported entitled “Saudi Arabia Air Conditioners Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2018”, the central region accounts for the largest revenue share of the country’s air-conditioners market. The report forecasts that Saudi Arabia’s air-conditioners market revenues will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 10 per cent during 2013-18.

Saudi Arabia is one of the largest air-conditioners markets in the Middle East. Rising temperature levels, coupled with high per capita income levels and rapidly growing population are boosting the air-conditioning market in the kingdom, the report indicates. The country faces extreme climatic conditions throughout the year, due to which cooling and ventilation become a necessity for the people residing in the country. Furthermore, the booming real estate sector and favourable government initiatives are also driving the demand for air-conditioners in Saudi Arabia.

The report reveals that the demand for various air-conditioners such as split, cassette, centralised and window continues to rise in Saudi Arabia, with split air-conditioners accounting for the highest demand.

“Education, residential and healthcare sectors will be the major demand generators for the air-conditioners market, due to increasing government initiatives directed towards these sectors. Moreover, the country’s air-conditioners market is going to be highly competitive over the forecast period due to emergence of a large number of players in the market,” says Karan Chechi, research director with TechSci Research.

“Expected technological advancements, coupled with the introduction of new energy-efficient air-conditioners models will continue to propel the demand in coming years,” he says.

The report further reveals that with the latest initiatives by Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organisation (Saso), the demand for energy-efficient air-conditioners is expected to rise in the country. Air-conditioners featuring inbuilt air purification functionalities are anticipated to gain a larger market share due to rising air pollution concerns in the country. The air-conditioners market in Saudi Arabia is dominated by several manufacturers such as LG Shaker, Daikin, Samsung Electronics, Gree Electric and Hitachi.

The report has also evaluated the future growth potential of the air-conditioners market in Saudi Arabia and provides statistics and information on market structure, market trends, market size, among other aspects.

It includes air-conditioner projections and demand forecasting. Besides, the report also identifies and analyses the emerging trends along with essential drivers, challenges and opportunities in air conditioners market in Saudi Arabia.

UAE

Meanwhile, another study indicates that the UAE’s air-conditioning market has picked up strongly post-recession and anticipates that it will surpass $1 billion revenues by the end of 2018.

The market for air-conditioning products in the UAE is expected to grow at an increasing rate over the next five years, says the report entitled “UAE Air-Conditioners Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2018” by Research and Markets, the world’s leading source for international market research reports and market data.

The advent of new technologies such as variable refrigerant flow (VRF) and district cooling are also likely to contribute to the industry’s growth as these technologies are gaining wide acceptability resulting from the growing need for energy efficiency.
