Duravit extends Vero sink range

DURAVIT has added two new designs to its Vero kitchen sink range.

The ceramic kitchen sinks offer numerous advantages to customers – from personalised colours to hygienic aspects, according to a spokesperson for Duravit.

“The new console and flush-fit versions complete Duravit’s timeless rectangular Vero range. The flush-fit Vero sink goes well with practically all worktop materials offering plenty of scope for individuality. Several positions are available for the tap fittings and pop up waste control,” he says.

The clean-lined and practical console version stands only 12 mm above the work surface, distinctive yet unobtrusive. The smooth surrounds soften the rectangular lines and emphasise the timeless design of the sink.

A Epicurean cutting board provides additional work space. Liquids or cuttings can be simply wiped into the sink and the anti-bacterial Epicurean surface is like wood – ideal for cutting, but more hygienic to clean.

All Vero kitchen sinks are 445 mm deep, large enough for cleaning pots and pans of all sizes. In addition to the classic colours such as White, Velvet White and Crema Matt, the sinks are also available in the darker Anthracite Matt and Black.


Flushing toilets hands free

REVOLUTIONISING the way homeowners flush their toilets, Kohler, a global leader in kitchen and bath design and technology, has introduced touchless toilet technology for the first time in the Middle East.

This new technology allows users to flush the toilet without making contact by using an innovative sensor instead of the traditional flush lever, according to a spokesperson for Kohler.

“The touchless flush is a great solution to this growing demand for increased hygiene in the bathroom. Homeowners are of course worried about the hygiene and health of their family members and the toilet trip lever is an obvious area of hygienic concern. Touchless takes that concern out of the equation, utilising new technology to provide a touchless way to control the flush,” says Pascale Delplace, marketing manager Kohler Brand EMEA.

“We are confident that Kohler’s touchless flush will appeal to homeowners in the UAE and Middle East, particularly given the high level of personal hygiene interest in this part of the world,” she says.

Touchless works in a very simple manner: holding a hand over the tank lid directly above the sensor actuates the flush. The new touchless technology is available in the iconic Kohler Cimarron toilet as well as a retro-fit kit that will work with almost any single-flush toilet with a canister or flapper type flush.

Unlike a beam-based sensor, in which a beam of light is broken to trigger the actuation, the Kohler toilet has utilised emerging sensing technology, which projects an electromagnetic field that is both extremely accurate and reliable. This type of sensor detects the user in the projected field and initiates the flush.

NEO design studio has launched Snap, an occasional table collection in two different sizes –35 by 33 cm and 35 by 43 cm.

Snap is a highly elegant and functional small piece of furniture, according to its designer Rodrigo Vairinhos.

“The structure of Snap tends to a geometric direction full of contrast and expression by the jagged edges of the legs and the round top, create a graphic zigzag and a structural light appearance all the way. The materials MDF (medium density fibreboard) and cork fulfil the entire design. The material mix is an inspiration to the senses, from the aesthetics to the touch,” he says.

When it came to colour, Vairinhos kept it conservative. He wanted to create a ‘shocking’ contrast -classic black lacquer for the structure, like a piece of wood that has been burned, contrasting with the organic lively and light cork tones.”

Neo Design was established in 2005 by Vairinhos, a Portuguese industrial designer, in Witten, Germany.

Neo’s design philosophy, according to Vairinhos, aims in creating a concept of everyday products with a strong character.

“Neo’s product development constantly happens in order to satisfy the needs of the contemporary user whose expectations go beyond the traditional parameters appealing for style and quality at all levels,” he adds.
