TPI projects in Dubai.

WITH its diverse portfolio of industry-leading roofing and cladding systems, the UAE-based Tiger Profiles and Insulation (TPI) is focusing on raising the bar in environment-friendly products which facilitate the construction of sustainable structures.

These “green” products enjoyed wide interest and great success at the recent Big 5 show – held in Dubai last November – and are poised to steal the show at the World Future Energy exhibition to be staged this month (January 18 to 21) at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre in the UAE.

Some of the products that will be on display are:
T-Seam, an environment-friendly, metal standing seam roofing system;
Solasteel and Solacoat environment-friendly heat-reflecting coatings, which help increases points for Leed certificates; and
Polyurethane (PU) products manufactured with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP) and zero global warming potential (GWP) blowing agents. These include composite sandwich panels; concealed fix wall panels; pre-insulated partitions and cold store panels.
Additionally, TPI will also display its roof/wall cladding profiles (insulated and non-insulated); roof tiles; floor deck panels; K-span panels; Z-purlins; C-channels and partition studs/ceiling grids.

Roof & wall profiles
TPI manufactures a range of some of the most efficient roof and wall profiles available on the international market today, says Bernard Nasr, executive director.
Offered in a variety of different materials including aluminium, galvanised iron (GI) and Alu-Zinc, the profiles are provided in a range of thicknesses from 0.40 mm to 1.00 mm and in a wide selection of colours and pre-painted polyester, PVF2, PVC Plastisol finishes that ensure that architects and designers have a wide choice of versatile solutions.

T-Seam
T-Seam belongs to the family of standing seam roofing systems, and is recognised for its design flexibility, high performance, ease in maintenance, durability and resistance to corrosion and its reliability, according to Nasr.
T-Seam aluminium panels can be provided in either natural aluminium in stucco or mill finish. They can also be supplied in colour finishes in various systems such as polyester, multi-coat PVDF and polyurethane. T-Seam can be supplied in a full range of RAL colours as well as any special colour to be matched.
T-Seam is also available with the Solasteel coating, he points out.
“Solasteel is an award-winning environment-friendly pre-coating for metal that, when applied prior to the manufacture of T-Seam, will ensure that the panels have a built-in insulation system that is available in its revolutionary form for the first time through TPI, the sole distributor of the Solacoat and SolaSteel Coatings in the Middle East, Asia and Africa,” he explains.

Elaborating on the product, he says: “The system is as versatile as it is cost-effective. Ideal for use on new buildings as well as retrofit applications, T-Seam roofs are engineered to withstand rain, wind, snow and sun, in addition to their ability to handle the effects from thermal movements.
“T-Seam roofs are increasingly becoming the popular choice for both new construction and for existing buildings. No matter what type of structure customers are considering, T-Seam roof design gives them the value and design flexibility that they are looking for. Steep slopes, flat roof profiles and different architectural shapes in roofing are possible in this system. T-Seam is certified by DBIT (Germany) and by FM Approvals (US).
“These roofs can be used in almost any situation, from commercial to residential, from small storage buildings to large manufacturing plants. It lasts longer, needs less maintenance and offers superb versatility. Unlike flat built-up roofs that require frequent maintenance, T-Seam roofs offer 15 years and more of trouble-free performance with almost no maintenance or expense.”
They are designed to ensure long-term durability and an attractive appearance, he says.
“Produced either in the factory or at the project site on a portable roll-forming machine, T-Seam panels are made using exceptionally strong aluminium material and can be formed in long lengths up to 100 m as a single-length panels. These roof panels are can handle all loads and are resistant to corrosion and fading,” Nasr says. “Each panel is joined together by a mechanically-locked seam raised above the roof’s drainage plane. The joint-free T-Seam panels ensure that your roof will be leak-free for years to come.
“Properly-installed standing seam metal roofs will provide longevity with very little maintenance. This exceptional return on investment makes the T-Seam design the most cost-effective choice for many customers,” he adds.

Projects
T-Seam roofing systems have been used for the new Sheikh Saeed and Za’abeel Halls of Dubai World Trade Centre, Nad Al Sheba Race Course, Dubai International Airport Concourse One (structural deck), Dubai Air Wing hangars, Fedex facilities at Dubai Airport, the mega cargo terminal building at Dubai International Airport (expansion Phase Two), Dubai Municipality buildings and Bur Juman Shopping Mall, all in Dubai Al Ain University (UAE), and the Gulf University for Science and Technology in Kuwait), to name a few.
Current projects include Masdar’s Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi and Meydan’s ‘receiving barns complex’ in Dubai, Nasr concludes.
