Intersec 2006 – the eighth edition of the region’s largest security, safety, fire and police event – set to open from January 29 to 31 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, has grown by 30 per cent attracting an even larger number of exhibitors and visitors, says a spokesman for the organiser.
Organised by Messe Frankfurt, the show provides a platform for specialists in the areas of police, security, fire, health and safety to promote the latest in products and services.
“This year’s show will see the participation of more than 400 companies coming from more than 40 countries including Australia, Austria, China, Spain, Turkey, the UAE, Canada, Cyprus, Finland, Hong Kong, and India. In addition, there will be over 50 companies from Germany, more than 15 companies from the US and at least 60 companies from the UK,” says the spokesman.
Some of the leading exhibitors include Assa Abloy, Panasonic, ADI International (Honeywell), Dedicated Micros, Norbain, SimonsVoss and Pelco.
According to Imke Huelsmann, Intersec’s show manager, “the growth and success of Intersec can be attributed to the increased number of international companies recognising the opportunities that exist in the Gulf area. Most GCC countries have major projects under way that require increased attention to security and safety needs,” she said.
“Many of the show’s visitors also come from Africa where many countries are investing in new homeland security, border control projects and national ID cards.”
Alongside, Intersec 2006 will also feature four specialist exhibitions and conferences under the identities of Mepec, Mefec, Mesh and Mecsec.
Mepec: The Middle East Police Exhibition and Conference, focuses on suppliers of products and services for the police force and homeland security, forensic equipment, biometrics, smart cards, armoured vehicles and C4I.
Mefec: The Middle East Fire Exhibition and Conference is another core sector, which deals with civil defence and fire issues, attracting exhibitors with products such as fire trucks, emergency vehicles, smoke detectors, alarms, extinguishers and rescue equipment.
Mesh: The third and arguably the fastest growing category at Intersec – the Middle East Safety and Health (Mesh) Exhibition and Conference – covers safety in the workplace and PPE (personal protective equipment), currently a hot topic in the region with many employers voluntarily establishing better and safer codes of practice.
Mecsec: The largest zone of all, the Middle East Commercial Security (Mecsec) Exhibition and Conference, features the latest high-tech products such as CCTV, biometric testing equipment, access control systems, locks, gates, perimeter security, DVR and surveillance cameras.
