The UAE plant of Alubond (USA) – which recently commenced full-fledged commercial production of aluminium composite panels – has been so successful that the company is already considering an expansion, according to the UAE-based Mulk group chairman, Shaji Ul Mulk.
The plant located in the Ajman Free Zone is a $3 million joint venture of the Mulk Group and American Building Technologies of US.
“The success of the Alubond brand has encouraged us to go for another expansion and a new production plant will be set up within this year,” Mulk points out. “This plant was originally planned to be set up in Europe but we felt there was a need to stay with the Middle East construction boom and increase our capacity. The UAE plant now has a capacity of 2 million sq m per annum and with the addition of our new production line, the total capacity will be marked at 5 million sq m per year.”
In the recent past, Alubond has emerged as the fastest-growing brand in the world and is presently being specified in major Middle Eastern projects such as the Dubai International Airport Expansion (Phase II), Burj Residences project, Waves – Residential Towers, Dubai Marina, ARY Building at Dubai Marina, all in Dubai, UAE; the new terminal building at Sharm El-Sheikh Airport – Egypt and a number of projects in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Iran, he adds.
“The amazing rapid success of Alubond is due to product expertise, the company’s ability to innovate and offer the shortest possible delivery schedules with the highest degree of quality and customer service,” S Abu Mohammed, director marketing says.
Alubond has strengthened its leadership around the world through its cost-effectiveness and the company has been constantly introducing new and architecturally aesthetic products across the world.
“Support to distributors to overcome technical and sales obstacles and the provision of data of Alubond’s approvals for prestigious global landmarks in virtually every corner of the world has provided Alubond with a competitive advantage and has resulted in the company offering the highest professional standards and achieving repeated business,” he continues.
The international network of Alubond distributors now spreads over 35 countries. “We have also launched stainless steel composite panels using genuine 304 and 316 grade stainless steel skins in place of aluminium and 1 mm suspended ceiling system. The product known as Alubond-lite is designed for petrol stations and the signage industry and has been accepted in the Middle East and Europe.
“Already Alubond-lite has proven a great success at Emarat and Enoc stations in the UAE, Al Fateh petrol station in Saudi Arabia, in Turkey, as well as with clients such as British Petroleum, Opet, Alpet, Shell and Turkpetrol, Jugopetrol in Serbia, Ceypetco in Sri Lanka, Woqod in Qatar and IOCL in India,” he concludes.
