Keynote speech in progress at the Middle East<br>Smart Lighting and Energy Summit 2014

Adoption of smart energy-efficient LED lighting solutions in architecture will come under focus at the upcoming fourth annual Middle East Smart Lighting and Energy Summit 2015 in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Organised by Expotrade, a global conference and event organiser, the event takes place on November 23 and 24 at Jumeirah at Etihad Towers.

“The lighting market is changing globally; it has evolved rapidly over the last few years.  Lighting is now considered as a vital element in the development of a city,” said Brad Hariharan, regional director, Expotrade Middle East.

“New regulations from governments supporting sustainability coupled with greater awareness of environmental issues has been the key growth driver in the popularity of LED (light emitting diode) based lighting. It has a major advantage over other energy-saving techniques. The implementation of new modern efficient lighting systems in public spaces augments the cultural identity and adds to the visual appeal of the city.”

LED lighting in a building’s structure has the ability to enhance a particular ambience by changing the colour temperature of light. From illuminating spaces to adding a touch of beauty, different variants in LED are deployed for architectural lighting. By far, the biggest advantage LED lighting offers is RGB (red, green, blue) colour controllability and flexibility.

Architectural innovations in the lighting segment vary from colour temperature control systems to automatic dimming control systems that are used primarily in residential and outdoor environments. Globally, the adoption of innovative lighting solutions has been on an upswing, witnessing stupendous success specifically in the European and Japanese market.

In the Middle East, there has been a steady increase in demand for the application of sustainable elements in the lighting domain. Recognising the important role lighting plays in enhancing the beauty of building facades, city municipalities have undertaking rampant measures to integrate lighting into the building architecture.

The Middle East region offers immense opportunity for growth in the architectural lighting segment. The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has attained regional and global recognition for its achievements in the field of smart and sustainable lighting.

“While we have witnessed massive adoption of innovative architectural lighting solutions, we firmly believe that there is an immense opportunity for growth in the Middle East region. Rapid technological evolutions in this domain are driving the adoption of intelligent lighting solutions in both the residential and outdoor space,” Hariharan concluded. – TradeArabia News Service
