Major show ... SAIE.

Next month’s SAIE 2007, the International Building Exhibition, will feature interesting new features and an even more up-to-date range of categories, according to BolognaFiere, the event’s organiser.

To be held in Bologna, Italy from October 24 to 28, SAIE 2007 is an essential component of BolognaFiere’s trade fair system targeted at manufacturers and professionals from the building industry.
This year’s event will occupy 260,000 sq m of exhibition space. As many as 1,750 exhibitors, including 350 from abroad, will be accommodated over 15 halls and six external exhibition areas.
Last year’s show attracted 176,500 professional visitors including 7,494 foreigners and the organiser expects the numbers to rise this year.
At this year’s event there are several new features incorporated with the aim of maximising business efficiency. These include an exhibition layout divided up into theme areas, tools for speeding up access to the show such as personal cards, and new infrastructure – the new Bologna-Fiera motorway toll booth – that allows convenient access to the exhibition centre.
SAIE is renowned for its attention to every segment of the construction industry. But it is also an event that focuses on innovation as the key to development strategies, exploring this theme in relation to products, exhibition sectors and building processes.
A BolognaFiere spokesman explains: “In just three years the SAIE New Product Guide has become the most authoritative guide available to the sector, a publication that selects the most interesting new products displayed by exhibitors at the show and proposes them in a convenient format for professionals. This year, the guide will benefit from the cooperation of the IUAV of Venice, which will select the most significant innovations at SAIE 2007, highlighting the innovative trends and interesting products.
He continues: “Over the years, the evolution of the exhibition proposals has led to the creation of new theme sections and focus events devoted to the most topical issues. One of the focus events in 2007 is energy efficiency. The most significant technical aspects of this theme will be explored and discussed during various debates.
“And, rather than just presenting the most significant innovations, SAIE 2007 will for the first time feature a special area devoted to practical demonstrations to make the exhibition more functional than ever.”
Also, on the day before the show BolognaFiere and Cresme will present a major report on the state of the sector and the investment trends, under the title ‘Economic Analysis of the Building World’.
Apart from SAIE, BolognaFiere’s bouquet of fairs includes the Saispring exhibition for doors and windows, door and window technologies and interior finishings (March 12 to 15, 2008) and two theme shows: Projects & Landscape, an innovative show that will explore the art of interior and exterior living spaces (March 12 to 15, 2008); and Saieenergia (October 15 to 19, 2008), which is devoted to energy efficiency, renewable energy sources and their applications in building and runs concurrently with next month’s event.
