Coim (Chimica Organica Industriale Milanese) of Italy, which supplies its  roofing systems worldwide, is keenly eyeing the Gulf market with a view to establishing a warehousing facility in the region.

In the Gulf, Coim has found a niche market in the greenhouses sector in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, says a spokesman for the company.
The company, which was a debutant at the Big 5 show in Dubai held last November, says its products are suitable for all weather conditions and have been used for industrial facilities as well as in coastal areas.
While the product costs more than steel sheets, they are lightweight and flexible and can be produced in lengths of up to 17.5 m, the spokesman says.  Coim sheets and tiles, which are colourfast, are offered in a diverse range of standard as well as custom colours to suit the clients’ requirements.
Says the spokesman: “Coim’s experience and technology does not stop at the purely chemical, but are also applied to manufacturing reinforced polyester products for the building sector. The result of this effort has been two specific lines of products – the Lariver and Cesarea 2000.
Lariver is a translucent laminate made with fibreglass-reinforced polyester resins that offer the benefits of reliability and transparency. It is produced in rolls or a vast variety of sheets with ribbed or corrugated profiles. To help achieve the best possible aesthetic results, they can be combined perfectly with:  asbestos cement, galvanised iron (corrugated), and aluminium (corrugated) sheets. The laminate can help make the most of natural light sources, whether used as a roofing material or as wall cladding.
Coim sheets come with a 10-year guarantee.
Lariver is designed to satisfy the diverse requirements of architecture and is the perfect solution for roofs, porches, cladding, windows, glasshouses and tunnels, says the spokesman.
The Cesarea 2000 is an opaque laminate that is composed of reinforced fibreglass with special no toxic additives. The outer surface is protected by a coating of special polyester film.
According to the spokesman, the advantages of Cesarea 2000 has several:

  • Has load-bearing capacity of 1,000 kg/sq m uniformly distributed with supports at  intervals of 1 m;
  • Has high resistance to atmospheric pollution, making it particularly suitable for industrial and agricultural use;
  • Its mechanical properties give it a very good resistance to hail and ensure low transmission of noise and heat.
  • Is undeformable because of a very low expansion coefficient, and resists temperatures ranging from –30 deg C to +150 deg C;
  • Is fire resistant;
  • Is easy to handle due to its low weight:
  • Is highly suited for reroofing applications;
  • Minimises overlaps as it can be produced up to a length of 17.50 m.
