The world’s only hotel to be designed in its entirety by the legendary late architect Dame Zaha Hadid has opened in Dubai’s newest landmark building, The Opus by Omniyat offering the latest benchmark for design and contemporary luxury in the hospitality sector.
Located in the heart of the Burj Khalifa district, ME Dubai is the first ME by Meliá property in the Middle East and boasts 74 rooms and 19 suites including the ultra-luxurious ‘ME Suite’’ that allow guests to enjoy the most detailed of Hadid’s design touches, from the exclusive furnishings throughout the rooms to the fixtures in the sophisticated bathrooms.
With awe-inspiring originality, Hadid’s design reinvents the balance between solid and void, opaque and transparent, interior and exterior. The legacy hotel presents three owned food and beverage (F&B outlets) including Central Cosmo Tapas and Bar, Refuel & Relax and The Opus Studio.
The spectacular lobby area of the hotel is the literal epicentre of the hotel, and will both welcome and inspire in its design, décor and calendar of cultural happenings.
The spacious pool and wet deck overlooking the Dubai skyline, as well as a 7,000-sq-m state-of-the-art gym, and luxurious spa, will enable guests to indulge in ‘ME time’, while the largest nightclub space in Dubai will provide a sophisticated setting to see and be seen in Dubai.
ME Dubai is the first and last hotel where the Iraqi-British architect has designed both the exterior and interior of the hotel, making the property her legacy project. Hadid was famous for her intensely futuristic architecture, characterised by curves, sharp angles and bold materials and the ME Dubai hotel is no exception.
The property features signature furniture throughout the lobby, lounges and reception areas, all of which was either designed or personally selected by Hadid.
ME by Meliá is a personality-led lifestyle brand that seeks to fuse innovative style with local tastes, to captivate clientele with a love for contemporary art and design, music and fashion. Inspired by European lifestyle, each hotel has a unique connection with its location.
ME Dubai’s personality-led ethos is amplified in the suites, with personalised touches at every turn. With advanced in-room technology that can be controlled through a smartphone, the hotel keeps guests connected and in-the-know. Suites also feature the Oculus Quest, an all-in-one gaming system, offering a wireless all-inclusive virtual reality experience without the use of a PC.
Featuring names such as Aura, Vibe, Chic, Passion and Personality, each suite at ME Dubai aims to make for a stay that is either rock star or royalty, depending on a guest’s preference.
The spa at ME Dubai provides guests a haven for relaxation, offering a variety of luxurious spa treatments for indiviuals or couples to unwind.
As the brand’s first Middle Eastern property, ME Dubai is not only set to become the social and cultural epicentre of Dubai, but also a contemporary luxury hotel with a tangible commitment to sustainability.
The property aims to raise the bar on sustainable practices for hotel operations in the city in line with the UAE’s Vision 2021, to be among the world’s leading countries prioritising evolving sustainable development while preserving the environment.
Initiatives being introduced across the hotel’s operations include a partnership with UAE-based company, “No More Bottles” to install world-class drinking water filtration systems throughout the hotel. All rooms will be stocked with pure, filtered water in glass bottles, demonstrating ME Dubai’s commitment to being entirely plastic-free and reducing its carbon footprint.
The Opus itself that houses the hotel has been developed by leading Middle East real estate developer, Omniyat. It spans 2 million sq ft and comprises two separate towers that connect in the form of a cube and featuring a ‘carved’ central void, which appears to hover above the ground.
The centre of the building provides unexpected and dramatic views of the exterior. During the day, The Opus is a luminous surface, reflecting the dazzling Dubai sun, with the LED lighting highlighting the vivid character of the building in the evening.
The Opus building will offer 15 F&B outlets including Roka, the contemporary Japanese robatayaki restaurant, as well as Maine Land Brasserie.
