Oman’s Public Establishment for Industrial Estates (Madayn) will soon float tenders for the development of a new industrial city within Al Dhahirah Governorate of the sultanate, said a report.

The organisation’s move comes following the completion of the detailed design work for the proposed new industrial city which will come up over a 10-million-sq-m area in Ibri, reported the Muscat Daily. Phase One of the cluster is being planned on a 3-million-sq-m area, it added.

“Work is under way on the project as per the planned timeframe, and investors wishing to set up their projects in Ibri can apply through Madayn’s investment portal,” stated Engineer Nasser Al Mabsali, Director-General of Ibri Industrial City.

Madayn had recently launched its Vision 2040 which aims to create world-class business cities in the sultanate while maintaining the Omani identity to contribute to economic growth.

Under its Vision 2040, in addition to Ibri Industrial City, Madayn aims to establish new industrial cities in Thumrait, Shinas, Al Mudhaibi and Al Rawdah, said the report .

It also has plans to set up specialised industrial complexes such as the plastic industries complex in Suhar Industrial City, precision manufacturing and nanotechnology in Sur Industrial City, and pharmaceutical industries and food industries complexes in all the industrial cities, as well as metal works industries in some of them, it added.
